The classification

The Gîtes de France quality brand guarantees strict standards regularly assessed through the rating system and compliance with the national charter.

Simple standard of comfort:

Mini-oven or grill, hobs, pressure cooker, fridge, cleaning tools and basic cleaning products, iron, high chair upon request, garden furniture ; one bathroom and toilet for 6 people max, 2nd bathroom from 7 people*.

Good standard of comfort:

 In addition to or instead of the equipment provided for 1 'ear of corn': blender, coffee machine, washing machine from 6 people, TV aerial socket, barbecue, bed and household linen and towels upon request.

High standard of comfort:

In addition to or instead of the equipment provided for 2 'ears of corn”: independent access and private garden, oven, washing machine, dishwasher from 5 people, colour TV, phone, 2 toilets from 7 people, housecleaning service upon request.

Excellent standard of comfort:

In addition to or instead of the equipment provided for 3 'ears of corn”: characterful property, high quality setting and interior decor, fireplace or wood burning stove, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, dryer from 6 people.

*some items may exceptionally not be available in some holiday cottages: in this case, it will be mentioned before the booking stage.

Heating

Precise information concerning heating must be mentioned in the rental contract or the accommodation’s detailed description. We recommend you ask the owner for an estimate of daily heating cost.

Swimming pools

In places equipped with swimming-pools, guests are responsible for the constant vigilance and active surveillance of the pool and all people who have access, especially children.
The swimming-pools comply with European laws in terms of suction fittings, enclosures and safety alarms. The specific features of each swimming-pool are mentioned in the accommodation's detailed description.

Complaints

All complaints must be made within 3 days following your arrival in the holiday cottage. The Gîtes de France organisation shall intervene only if the rental was the subject of a Gîtes de France contract.
The list of members is provided, subject to changes that may occur between the time the guide is produced and the time it is published.

Insurance

A cancellation insurance can be provided via the booking service.

Capacity

The contract is drawn up for a precise number of guests. If this number is exceeded, whether at the arrival or during the stay, the owner is allowed to refuse additional guests, to end the rental contract, or to increase the price on a pro rata basis: price of the accommodation/number of people allowed in the accommodation.

Deposit and inventory

An inventory will be taken by the owner or his agent at the beginning and the end of the stay. Check this carefully with the owner to avoid any misunderstanding or dispute.
The gite must be kept clean by the tenant. On your departure, the owner or his agent will check the state of the gite especially beds, bathroom and kitchen equipment. If it is not up to standart, you will be charged for any additional cleaning.

When a deposit is required, it is returned at the end of the stay after inventory. If you damage any furniture or break anything, pleas let the owner know, so he could make a deduction.

Certificate of stay

Should you request, our services can issue a certificate attesting to your stay in a Gîtes de France-certified accommodation. Any request should be sent in writing and accompanied by the copy of the Gîtes de France rental contract.

Tourist tax

Some towns and villages may charge a tourist tax: please enquire at the time of booking. The amount varies depending on the town or village and must be paid to the owner, unless included in the price.

Pets

Any pet must be notified. You must ask for the owner's permission.

Charges

The included charges are indicated on the contract. Theu generally include cold water, 8 kW/h electricity per days, gas for cooking. Extra charges for heating will be required.

Welcome

You will be welcomed by the owner of the cottage or the housekeeper.

Request an inventory at the beginning and at the end of your stay (including an electricity and heating meter reading).

We advise you to contact the owner to discuss the time of arrival; besides, he will be able to give information on how to get there. In case you have to leave early or interrupt your stay, you must inform the owner.

Upkeep

Guests are responsible for the cleaning of the holiday cottage during and at the end of their stay. The Holiday cottage must be left in a perfect state on departure. Some owners provide an end-of-stay cleaning service.
